Our Wireless TV Headphone Recommendations:
Sennheiser RS 185
If you are looking for something unique, look no further than this offering from the stables of Sennheiser. Unlike the plethora of other wireless headphones you will find elsewhere, this model, instead of Bluetooth, uses a customized RF (Radio Frequency) system, which offers uncompressed audio stream and a far better range. You cannot use it outside as the headset communicates with a dock that needs to be plugged into the main power supply. To be frank, I would suggest this headphone over those that communicate via Bluetooth.
This headphone consists of two parts… the headset and the charging dock. You can connect the latter to any power source. This set offers you a choice of phono or optical outputs… take your pick… analogue or digital. The extra-large felt covered pads is big enough to cover your ears and offers lot of comfort to your ears. However, if you are interested in noise isolation, then this model is not for you. According to the manufacturer, a fully charged headset provides you with 18 hours of uninterrupted use. Each cup of this headset contains a rechargeable battery.
In my opinion – one of the best headphones you can buy!
This too is a budgetary range headphone that employs RF technology. This is the perfect model for those searching for a wireless headset for use with standard as well as smart TVs. However, this does not mean that you cannot use it for other purposes, as this model is ideal for listening to music from other sources too. Its high quality sound is as good, and is sometimes better than headphones that cost much more. You do not have to worry about inconvenient wall charging as it employs stereo dock charging. Its 2.4 gigahertz signal technology in tandem with its high quality transmitter allows you to use it up to 100 feet away from the transmitter.
Be prepared for a surprise when you use its controls, as they are extremely precise and provide you with a wide range of options such as alerts for low power, volume, power indicator light, and mute function through its memory preset. The headphones boast of a comfortable padding and a single charge of its rechargeable Ni-MH batteries allows you to enjoy this headphone for up to 20 hours. It is among the cheapest headsets we have found.
Bose QuietComfort 35 II
Do not be fooled by its look. The Bose QuietComfort 35 II looks just like their previous generation headphone, but for the “Google Assistant” button, which is conveniently located on its left earcup. Like all other audio products by Bose, this too offers awesome sound clarity across the entire audio spectrum. Although this is the perfect headset for music aficionados, we would not recommend it if you want to impress others with it. The quality of plastic used in the set did not impress us, but considering the quality of sound, the low price, and the reputation of the manufacturer, we did not mind.
The good news is that the plastic reduces the overall weight of the headphone, allowing users to use it for extended periods without any problems. Unlike other manufacturers who only provide pouches for storing their sets, Bose has been kind enough to include a hard case. This beauty cuts off ambient noise even when its noise cancellation switch is turned off, allowing users to preserve power. The right earcup contains a power and pairing slider along with playback and volume control buttons. The button for Google Assistant is located on the left earcup.
This is unarguably the best noise cancelling headphones that we found. We were pleasantly surprised by its amazing sound quality. Although it looks very much like its predecessor, the company has included several updates such as deeper earcups and the option of charging the set through USB-C. After installing their application, one can easily navigate their playback list with forward and backward swipes and adjust volume by swiping downwards and upwards. We were also able to activate the voice assistant with a long press on our smartphone’s screen. Searching for Amazon Alexa? The updated version of this headphone allows you to gain access to it by updating the Sony Headphone Connect application on your mobile.
This headphone is extremely light and boasts of great padding. Add to this its excellent noise cancelling features, and it becomes easy to understand why we fell in love with this device. It is a tad costly, but when one takes into account its features such as “Smart Listening” that adjusts the ambient sound based on your activity to give you the best noise cancellation available, and the fact that it provides five hours of playback on a 10 minute recharge, there is no doubt that the company is giving you full value for your money.
Plantronics BackBeat PRO 2
If you are looking for excellent sound… natural mid tones, rich bas, and crisp highs… without burning a hole in your pocket, then this is the ideal headphone for you. This feature rich headphone with excellent ambient noise cancellation. The manufacturers have fixed some of the bad features of their previous model, while retaining all the positive aspects. The weight of this model is much less than that of its predecessor. The toggle switch for active noise cancellation, along with the volume and playback controls are located on the left earcup. The toggle switch features an open mic mode too, which permits you to hear what is going round you without taking off the headphone… an extremely handy feature.
The right earcup boasts of a large button for answering phone calls along with a power/pairing slider. A textured ring controls the volume. Turn down the volume by rotating it clockwise, and increase the volume by rotating it anti clockwise. You can increase the battery life by turning off the active noise cancellation. By the way, this headphone continues to work in power mode when the battery gets exhausted. The earcups are lined with leather, making them extremely comfortable to use. You can use it for hours at a stretch without feeling any discomfort.
No two persons are the same. While some do not mind spending more money for quality sound and comfort, others are searching for headphones that provide them with reasonable quality sound without denting their wallet. Keeping this in mind, we found it extremely difficult to determine the top wireless headphones for TV 2019. In case you are looking for the best, then opt for the model by Bose or Sony. However, if you are concerned about your budget, you might find the Sennheiser, Plantronics, and Artiste model ideal for our television. The Artiste takes the prize for providing wireless earphones with excellent quality sound at pocket friendly prices.
A couple honorable mentions the also have some of the richest sound:
